Prepare to “Conga!” as The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale transforms the oceanfront moonlit lounge into the 1950s Tropicana Nightclub, where cigar rollers, domino tables, specialty mojitos and Cuban-inspired cuisine take you back to vintage Havana, a time where bongo beats matched the island’s ever-beating pulse. Oversized telescopes are lined up to view the luminous moon rise above the Atlantic as DJ Rob Riggs adds Caribbean flavor into the evening’s mix, including sounds from the salsa queen herself. Grab your guayabera and dancing shoes for a night in paradise under the stars.
It’s time for a good spring cleaning, so this month the Full Moon party benefits Soles4Souls (www.giveshoes.org), a terrific organization that collects shoes to help people in need. Bring a pair of new or gently worn shoes and a $5 donation and receive a complimentary cocktail; or if you simply can’t part with your (new) stilettos, a $10 donation will also win you a cocktail.
The “whodunit” event is open to the public with no velvet ropes, no cover charge, $7 valet parking and such fun that Condé Nast Traveler named it “The Party” in Fort Lauderdale.
Thursday, April 5 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
