To celebrate Mongolia – a country that many veteran travelers consider the last true unspoiled wilderness in Asia – home to the largest unfenced grasslands in the world and a thriving nomadic Buddhist culture, it is our great pleasure to invite you to join this one time Founder’s Journey to celebrate thier 20th anniversary. You will explore Mongolia from the Golden Eagle Festival in the remote western mountains to the vast Gobi Desert. Some truly remarkable individuals will join us: Mr. Peter Matthiessen, acclaimed writer and a two-time National Book award winner; Mr. Victor Emanuel, a well-known naturalist, birder and founder of Victor Emanuel Nature Tours and Mr. Costas Christ, editor and columnist for National Geographic Traveler and one of the world’s leading experts on ecotourism. In addition to meeting rural nomadic headers, you will also meet Mongolia’s leading politicians, businessmen, Buddhist monks and social activists for a diverse perspective on Mongolia’s past, present and future. We look forward to traveling with you to this unique and wonderful country!

Itinerary at a glance:

Day 1 – Arrival

Day 2 – Explore the bustling capital Ulaanbaatar and enjoy welcome dinner

Day 3 – Fly to Ulgii and meet local golden eagle hunters

Day 4 – Enjoy the opening ceremony of the annual Golden Eagle Festival

Day 5 – Attend the competition and awards ceremony

Day 6 – Fly to Ulaanbaatar

Day 7 – Drive to Hustain Nuruu National Park

Day 8 – Fly to the Gobi and hike at the Yol Valley

Day 9 – Explore Tugrugiin Shiree and visit Bulgan village

Day 10 – Sample camelback riding at Moltsog Els sand dunes and enjoy sunset at the Flaming Cliffs

Day 11 – Fly to Ulaanbaatar

Day 12 – Departure

What’s Not Included:
International airfare; passport and visa fees; medical and trip insurance; evacuation costs; airport taxes; excess baggage charges; items of a personal nature, including alcoholic beverages, laundry and telephone calls; other items not specifically mentioned as included.

Terms & Conditions:
Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be submitted in writing to Nomadic Expeditions. Cancellation charges are based on the number of days from the date we receive the written cancellation notice until the main trip departure date.

Cancellation charges:

90 days or more $500

89-60 days 25% of land

59-30 days 50% of land

29-0 days No refund

After trip departs No refund

In addition, any unrecoverable charges or fees imposed by suppliers or vendors on advance payments will be assessed. Airfares are refundable in accordance with the policy of the airline carrier being used, subject to a $50 handling charge.

If full payment is not received 90 days prior to departure, Nomadic Expeditions reserves the right to consider this a cancellation. A Late Payment Fee will apply to all payments made less than 90 days prior to departure.

Nomadic Expeditions reserves the right to cancel or postpone any travel services prior to departure for any reason, including insufficient number of participants. In the event that a trip cannot depart on the dates specified due to unforeseeable events that render the itinerary inoperable or inadvisable, Nomadic Expeditions reserves the right to postpone services until such time as it is deemed appropriate by Nomadic Expeditions. Trip payments will be held by Nomadic Expeditions, and subject to the same conditions as for the original scheduled trip.

Nomadic Expeditions is not responsible for any unrecoverable expenses incurred by trip participants due to trip cancellation or postponement, including non-refundable airline tickets, medical expenses and visa fees, or additional arrangements, made either through Nomadic Expeditions or another provider, purchased to coincide with this scheduled departure.
