Panama Canal Rainforest

The Panama Canal rainforests are among the most accessible nature-rich rainforests in the world. Over 50,000 acres of pristine rainforest hosts 105 species of mammals, 525 species of birds and 124 species of reptiles and amphibians. A nature-rich area so close to the metropolitan capital is a feature unique to Panama. The Panama Canal, just 30 minutes away from Panama City, requires a vast rainforest watershed to feed water to its lock system which uses millions of gallons each day. For this reason the Canal Zone has had to actively preserve its circumvent natural resources, making for plentiful green areas.

The lowlands including Panama City average 80F-90F degrees during the day, and the highlands have spring-like temperatures year-round. Dry season is from mid-December through May and green season from May through Dec. (typically a shower in late afternoon).

Magnificent Madrid

Madrid, the capital of Spain, truly impacts visitors with its welcoming warmth and beauty. Imagine walking down a narrow cobblestone street, pausing to look towards the cloudless sky. Overhead, countless flowering balconies line the walls of an 18th century building. You hear flamenco music in the plaza around the corner. Melodic rhythm of the Spanish language fills your ears. You are in Madrid, city of culture, energy, art, excitement and romance.
Enjoying many more clear, sunny days than any other city in Western Europe, Madrid is noted for her “Velázquez skies” or “Velasqueños”, named after the world famous Spanish painter. Situated on the Castillian Meseta, Madrid overlooks the nearby Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range where pine groves purify the air and provide majestic views.

  • Madrid has magnificent museums where the visitor can admire famous works of art by classic and contemporary masters. There are museums dedicated to sculpture, archaeology and science. The most important is the Prado Museum, where visitors marvel at works of Spanish and European art from the 12th to the 18th century.
  • The morning’s round of sightseeing and museum touring over, the visitor’s appetite is whetted for wonderful dining. Along with international restaurants, savor traditional Spanish cooking. Enjoy regional dishes such as “paella valenciana”, “bacalao a la vizcaina” and “Pollo a la chilindrón”.
  • Not to be missed, Flamenco, or Andalusian Gypsy dancing is a phenomenon in Madrid. This sensual art form can be seen in theaters, cabarets and nightclubs but be sure to ask the locals, for there are certain special clubs where the real Flamenco connoisseurs go.

Please note: The only acceptable proof of citizenship for traveling to Europe is a VALID U.S. Passport. Name on passport must match name on airline ticket. Passport must be valid until at least six months after the scheduled return date.

May and October are considered the best months for touring Spain. June, July, August or September, while crowded, are best months for the beach. Winters in Spain are cold.

Rome… The Eternal City

Twenty million visitors a year can’t be wrong; there is something about Rome that fascinates and attracts people, year after year, and century after century. This incredible hold on the world’s imagination has made Rome one of the most fascinating and sought out tourist destinations in the world. The Eternal City contains layer upon layer of history leaving its mark upon countless monuments, ruins, museums, and catacombs. Considering the long, impressive history that has molded Rome, the historic centre is actually quite small and easily visited within a short time, and the city itself can be seen as an enormous open-air museum. Furthermore, art works as magnificent as Michelangelo’s Moses or the Pieta adorn parish churches and basilicas, allowing visitors to admire them completely free of charge. Rome is home to so many churches that seeing them all, at a rate of one church a day, would take more than a year; and that is not even mentioning the majesty that is St Peter’s and the Vatican.

In the end, however, Rome is more than just a collection of world-renowned monuments.

  • Italian cuisine is one of the most popular worldwide with an unparalleled degree of international influence. But the experience of having Italian food in Rome is unique, becoming a blend of cultural and culinary imagination. From 5 star restaurants to street side cafés, there is something magical for every palate.
  • Rome is a haven for fashionistas and the perfect match for anyone who loves to shop. Picturesque streets are lined with high-end, designer, artisan boutiques as well as quirky, unusual shops offering every imaginable type of merchandise.
  • There is a special atmosphere that is unmistakably Roman, a timeless charm that is palpable as you sip a cappuccino in front of the Coliseum, indulge in a gelato and watch the street performers in Piazza Navona, admire the sun setting behind one of the Tiber bridges, get lost amidst the labyrinthine streets of the Centro Storico or simply unwind in one of Rome’s many, lush parks.

Roma : Non Basta Una Vita (A Lifetime is Not Enough)…

The winter weather is considerably milder in Italy than in the north and central US. In summer evenings are cool, especially in the mountains. Summer afternoon thunderstorms are common in Rome.
