Panama Canal Rainforest

The Panama Canal rainforests are among the most accessible nature-rich rainforests in the world. Over 50,000 acres of pristine rainforest hosts 105 species of mammals, 525 species of birds and 124 species of reptiles and amphibians. A nature-rich area so close to the metropolitan capital is a feature unique to Panama. The Panama Canal, just 30 minutes away from Panama City, requires a vast rainforest watershed to feed water to its lock system which uses millions of gallons each day. For this reason the Canal Zone has had to actively preserve its circumvent natural resources, making for plentiful green areas.

The lowlands including Panama City average 80F-90F degrees during the day, and the highlands have spring-like temperatures year-round. Dry season is from mid-December through May and green season from May through Dec. (typically a shower in late afternoon).

Gamboa Rainforest Resort

Adventure into the jungle on an aerial tram, experience a boat ride on the Panama Canal, or relax by the luxurious pool surrounded by Panama’s natural beauty. Whatever your pleasure, adventure and relaxation await you in this enchanting and sumptuous hideaway, just 30 minutes from Panama City.
Colorful sights and natural wildlife make the Gamboa Rainforest Resort a truly one-of-a-kind vacation experience. Escape to this jungle paradise as a couple or with the entire family to encounter nature without leaving the comforts of a full-service exotic resort. We invite you to discover Gamboa.

History of Apple Vacations

It All Started with An Idea…
One of the nation’s first charter vacation companies, Apple Vacations was founded in 1969. Our founders saw an opportunity to bring passengers to exotic locations at a fraction of the cost that the big airlines were charging. At that time, international travel was considered an expensive luxury. Apple Vacations believed that by providing quality vacations at affordable prices, we would fill an unmet need in the travel industry. To achieve our lowest prices, we assumed the risk, chartered aircraft and guaranteed hotels that we could fill their rooms, Apple Vacations began building the nation’s largest provider of vacations to Mexico, Caribbean and Hawaii. In the late 1970s, the company became one of the first to introduce the concept of “all-inclusive vacations” to the U.S. market. We were also one of the first to introduce three and four night vacations, in response to people’s desire for shorter, more frequent vacations.

In 1997, just after celebrating our one-millionth passenger arrival in Cancun, Apple Vacations saw an opportunity in a relatively young vacation destination known as Punta Cana. With our support and guidance on what the U.S. vacationer wanted, Punta Cana is now one of the hottest vacation spots in the Caribbean. In 2006, we brought passenger one million to Punta Cana, more than any other North American travel company.

And the Vision Continues.
Over the past 42 years under the same management, Apple Vacations has grown into a company of almost 2,000 energetic employees with the same entrepreneurial attitudes as its founders. Headquartered just outside Philadelphia with regional offices in Chicago and Boston, the Apple Vacations family is focused on providing quality vacations with the highest level of service. Apple Vacations carries more leisure travelers to Mexico and the Dominican Republic than any vacation company worldwide, and is one of the nation’s leading vacation companies to the Caribbean, Central America and Hawaii. Additionally, Apple Vacations offers European city stays, escorted tours and river cruises, and ski vacations to popular ski resorts in the US and Canada. With a full range of product including air-only, land-only and complete air/hotel vacations, Apple is an industry leader in selling all-inclusive vacation packages.

Apple Vacations has created the ultimate “beginning-to-end” vacation experience. Apple Representatives meet customers traveling on exclusive vacation value flights at their departure airport. Upon arrival in destination, Apple Vacations Resort Representatives are waiting outside the airport to guide customers to their hotel transfer. Apple Reps host welcome briefings and hold desk hours at most hotels, and are available all vacation long to help ensure the ultimate vacation experience.
